Untitled (Music In Motion), is a series of indexical prints used to evoke emotion from music. I am interested in different instruments and how music derives from them. In my personal life I have played or tried to play a few string instruments, including, the violin, the mandolin, the guitar, and the ukulele. Music unveils emotions whether they are good or bad, which is what I wanted to investigate with brush strokes. I listened to St. Paul Suite by Gustav Holst, which is the music in the background, and used that to guide my hand. The resulting prints are 8.5”x11” ink on watercolor paper. These smaller prints give a more intimate relationship with the viewer. The viewer can read the sheet music as if they are about to play it.
