I attended the Minnesota Renaissance Festival Labor Day weekend, where it was nearly 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The annual event in Shakopee, MN, begins the last weekend in August and goes through the first weekend in October. The Minnesota Renaissance Festival has grown to be one of the largest in the USA. Despite this fact, the crowds were small due to the heat. When arriving at the festival, the Treetop stage had a performer, Oops Entertainment, who performed fire tricks and had a bowling ball fall on him as he lay on a bed of nails as a final act. There are 16 stages throughout the festival, with lots of exciting entertainment for all ages. Along with entertainment to watch, many vendors attend the fair. Instead of the usual lines this weekend, the grounds were desolate, so there wasn’t much waiting to do; it was nice in that aspect. Vendors, however, grew bored, and some debated closing shop early; who could blame them? The shops stayed open despite the heat and boredom, which I was grateful for. Overall, it was a good time, but a few more people wouldn’t have hurt.
